Honorary Fellow
This member is an individual who has been of extra-ordinary service to the field of Audiology in Australia or to ACAud. This is the highest honour that can be bestowed on an individual by ACAud. An Honorary Fellow may also be eligible for another category of membership, but need not qualify in any other way for membership of ACAud. Honorary Fellows do not have voting rights.
Fellow
This member is an individual who has achieved the highest level of professional recognition in Australia. This person is considered an expert or specialist. There may be sub-categories of Fellowship in line with areas of specialist practice.
Fellows must be recognised by ACAud as competent in at least one of the Specialist Competencies.
Ordinary Member
This Member is an individual who is considered to have sufficient experience to be able to work independently. Ordinary Members must be recognised by ACAud as competent in at least one of the Basic Competencies and have been employed full time for a minimum of two years out of the previous four years.
Associate Member
This Member is an individual who has had some formal training, but who is not yet considered sufficiently experienced to work unsupervised in a clinical situation.
Associate members must have been employed full time in the field for a minimum of two years out of the previous four years.
AND EITHER
i) hold a Graduate Diploma in Audiology (or higher degree) from an Australian university.
OR
iii) hold a Diploma in Hearing Device Prescription and Evaluation from an Australian tertiary education facility.
Service Member
This member is an entity that has as its primary function, the purpose of providing hearing services. A separate prospectus is available upon request for Service Membership
Student Member
This member is an individual who is enrolled in an approved course of instruction at an approved tertiary education facility.
Affiliate Member
Open to any person who has an interest in the profession. No formal qualifications are required. This person is not considered competent to provide hearing care services. Affiliate members receive most of the privileges of membership, including member rates at conferences and other ACAud functions, but are not eligible to vote.
Fellow (Retired)
This member is an individual who has been admitted as a Fellow, who has subsequently retired from the workforce and who wishes to maintain contact with the profession.
Ordinary member (Retired)
This member is an individual who has been admitted as an Ordinary Member for a minimum of ten years, or who became a member prior to 1 January 1997, who has subsequently retired from the workforce and who wishes to maintain contact with the profession.
